Big Idea Productions

June 8-October 5, 1999

GW298H219

Bumper: On a yellow background, Larry the Cucumber is seen staring at the viewer and smiling upside-down. Next to him is the blue text "Please stay tuned for more trailers after the show." in the Hotsy Totsy font.

FX/SFX: Just the simple fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extremely rare. This was only used on the 1999 Lyrick Studios VHS re-releases of the VeggieTales videos Very Silly Songs! and Josh and the Big Wall!. (2000 reprints of both of these releases use the next one.) Certain other VeggieTales videos distributed by Lyrick use their own bumper (described below) instead.

Editor's Note: Due to this bumper not being scaled properly before being put out, there is a black border which surrounds it. Some also view it unfavorably due to Larry's stare.

January 11, 2000-March 8, 2005

Bumper: On a plain white background, we see the red text "Stay tuned for more after the show." in an Impact font.

Variants:

  • On the 2001 and 2003 VHS releases of VeggieTales: "Lyle the Kindly Viking", as well as the 2003 VHS re-releases of VeggieTales: "Rack, Shack & Benny", VeggieTales: "Josh and the Big Wall!" and The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown, a similar bumper is seen in a different font on a lavender background with white text saying "STAY TUNED AFTER THE SHOW FOR MORE EXCITING NEWS!". Steve McKenzie says "Stay tuned after the show for some more exciting news from Big Idea!". If you look real closely, you can see lines and symbols, such as boomerangs on the background.
    • A sub-variant exclusively seen on the 2001 VHS release of 3-2-1 Penguins: "The Amazing Carnival of Complaining" is on a blurry ocean background taken from the Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie trailer. Here the text reads "STAY TUNED AFTER THE SHOW" with Steve McKenzie saying "Stay tuned after the video for a behind-the-scenes look at Big Idea's new movie, Jonah".
  • Two sub-variants of the original version exist:
    • On VeggieTales: Jonah Sing-Along Songs and More! (exclusively a VHS release from 2002), the text is smaller and appears above footage from "Behind the Scenes of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie," which fades in and out.
    • Rarely, the text will appear in the same font as the lavender variant. Examples of this include the 2002 VHS releases of The Star of Christmas and LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures: "The Yodelnapper".
  • A variant exists where the background is a blurred-up Las Vegas pattern facing to the left at an angle. The white neon lights on the background are seen moving from the upper-left corner to the bottom-right corner of the screen. In front of the Las Vegas pattern, we see white text telling us to stay tuned for specific features after the show (as described below). This variant was first seen on the 2003 VHS release of LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures: "The Good, the Bad and the Eggly!" and last seen on the 2005 VHS release of VeggieTales: "Duke and the Great Pie War".
    • "Stay Tuned for more after our Feature Presentation!" (Steve McKenzie simply says "Stay tuned for more after our feature!")
    • "Stay tuned for a special animated short right after our Feature Presentation!" (Here Steve McKenzie is replaced with Larry the Cucumber [voiced by Mike Nawrocki] and the music is quieter. This sub-variant only appears on the 2003 VHS release of The Wonderful World of Auto-Tainment!.)
    • "Stay Tuned after our Main Presentation for a Special Bonus Feature" (Here the text is bolder, has a shadow effect, and is missing punctuation. The music is also slightly extended. This was seen on the 2004 VHS and DVD releases of VeggieTales: "A Snoodle's Tale", and certain VeggieTales Classics VHS re-releases from the same year including God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!, VeggieTales: Larry-Boy! & the Fib from Outer Space!, and Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed.)
    • "Stay Tuned for an exciting Behind the scenes special after our Feature Presentation!" (Here the text is smaller like the second variant but is noticeably more on-center. The music is also quieter as well. This was only seen on the 2003 VHS re-releases of VeggieTales: "Madame Blueberry" and VeggieTales: "King George and the Ducky".)
    • "Stay Tuned for 'The Star of Christmas'" (Here the text is yellow instead of white, and this sub-variant is silent except for Steve McKenzie who says "Stay tuned after "The Toy That Saved Christmas" for the second half of our Holiday Double Feature, The Star of Christmas, plus more fun previews." This was only seen on the 2004 VHS release of VeggieTales: Holiday Double Feature.)
  • On the 2003 VHS release of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, a blue ocean background is used. A yellow television is seen showing footage of some bloopers from the film at the bottom right corner of the screen. Bordering the television is the white text "Stay Tuned for Outtakes After the Feature". As we hear the audio of the bloopers and see them playing, Steve McKenzie says "Stay tuned for never-before seen outtakes and more after our feature".

FX/SFX: Just the simple fade-in and fade-out.

Music/Sounds: Big Idea Productions announcer Steve McKenzie says the text displayed on screen.

  • The Las Vegas variant uses the first fourteen notes of "Erie Canal" from VeggieTales: The Wonderful World of Auto-Tainment, with the same announcer saying the text.

Availability: Common for the original version and the Las Vegas variant, but rare written all over it for the other variants. The main version can be found on most VeggieTales, 3-2-1 Penguins! and LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures VHS tapes from 2001-03. The Las Vegas variant replaced the original version starting in 2003, making it fairly common and also easy to find on most Big Idea VHS releases as listed here. As for the other variants, they are mostly exclusive to certain releases as described above. On DVD, it makes surprise appearances on The Toy That Saved Christmas, The Star of Christmas, and A Snoodle's Tale. The last release to use this bumper is the 2005 VHS of VeggieTales: "Duke and the Great Pie War".

Editor's Note: The font, capitalization, and punctuation on some of the variants could be seen as inconsistent with others. Despite this, this bumper is well-liked by many VeggieTales fans.

Lyrick Studios

March 31, 1998-February 9, 1999

Bumper: On a background consisting of the 1998 Lyrick Studios starry night background with ripples and the Lyrick logo floating by at an angle, we see the text "Please stay tuned following this presentation for previews of other Lyrick™ Studios Home Videos".

Variant: On the 1998 VHS release of Wishbone's Dog Days of the West, the bumper takes place on a Wishbone background (similar to the show's Viewers Like You bumper) in which he appears looking at the viewer. The text appears in a black Dom Casual font, and is slightly altered in that "Studios" and the TM symbol are removed. In addition, "Home Videos" is entirely lowercase, and there's a period at the end.

FX/SFX: The rippling, and the 1998 Lyrick Studios logo floating by.

Music/Sounds: The last three notes of the 1998 Lyrick Studios theme with a male announcer saying the text.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • Very rarely, only the Lyrick theme would be heard.
  • On the Wishbone variant, it's silent except for Wishbone himself serving as the announcer. He yells out "Hellooo!," then says the text.

Availability: Rare, as it was only used for almost a year. It can be seen on certain Wishbone, VeggieTales, Shelley Duvall and Groundling Marsh VHS releases by Lyrick Studios from the timeframe including Wishbone: Frankenstein, the 1998-99 VHS re-releases of VeggieTales: The Toy That Saved Christmas, VeggieTales: God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!, and VeggieTales: Larry-Boy! & the Fib from Outer Space!, Shelley Duvall's American Tall Tales and Legends and Groundling Marsh: It's a Wonderful Marsh!. As for the variant without the announcer, it is extremely rare, but can be found on the Lyrick Studios Shelley Duvall reprints of Casey at the Bat, Johnny Appleseed, Davy Crockett, Annie Oakley, and Mother Goose: Rock 'N' Rhyme, all of which are incredibly hard to find. Although Lyrick Studios did distribute Barney VHS tapes during the era, don't be expecting this bumper to appear on those tapes, since they use their own bumpers.

Editor's Notes:

  • The text is taken directly from the Barney Home Video bumper (except for an edit to mention Lyrick Studios), resulting in a lack of originality.
  • If you look closely, you can see stars floating by with the Lyrick logo. Since it's a snippet of the logo that was pasted on, it could be seen as crude.

2000-April 3, 2001

Bumper: On a sky blue background with confetti falling, we see the gold text "Please stay tuned for more important messages and previews at the end of this video!", which moves back and forth.

FX/SFX: The confetti falling, the text moving back and forth.

Music/Sounds: The 1997 Lyrick Studios theme with a male announcer (Earl Fisher) saying the text.

Availability: Extremely rare. Only seen on Be My Valentine, Love, Barney and The Wiggles: Dance Party.

Editor's Note: The text's appearance and movement look very cheap. In fairness, this time around the text is more original.

HiT Entertainment

United States

May 8, 2001

Bumper: We see Kipper The Dog staring at the viewer with the Kipper logo and information about the short The Gismo appearing to the right to him, as well as a page fold with a HiT Entertainment logo on the bottom right. All of this slides off in different directions and we fade into a scene from the short in which Kipper is digging through the box before we fade to its title card, which is still.

Variant: A variant of this bumper promotes the Skates short. This can be seen on the 2001 VHS release of Barney: Howdy Friends!.

FX/SFX: The sliding, the animation in the short, the fading.

Music/Sounds: A shortened version of the Kipper theme song with a male announcer saying "Please stay tuned at the end of this video for a mini adventure featuring Kipper!"

Availability: Incredibly rare. Seen on the 2001 VHS release of A to Z with Barney.

August 26, 2003-2004

Bumper: Inside a frame on a white background with color shapes doodling themselves, appearing, and then disappearing appears the blue text "Please Stay Tuned After the Feature Presentation for Previews of Other HIT Entertainment Videos!".

Variant: An extremely rare non-Barney variant features the text appearing in a bold Arial font in yellow against a background of a blurred HiT Entertainment logo. The text is also slightly altered in that "HIT" reads "Hit".

FX/SFX: The shapes doodling, hand prints and sponge-stamped stars themselves, appearing, and disappearing.

Music/Sounds: Basically a little percussion piece, with a female announcer saying the text.

Music/Sounds Variant: Very rarely, only the announcer would be heard.

Availability: Ultra rare. First seen on Barney's Best Manners: Your Invitation to Fun!. The variant with only the announcer can be found on the 2003 VHS releases of Barney: Numbers Numbers! and Barney's Red, Yellow, and Blue!. As for the non-Barney variant, it's only known to appear on the 2004 VHS release of Rubbadubbers: Tubb's Pirate Treasure. Editor's Notes:

  • Some of the shapes overlap the text a little bit. Since it was mainly tailor-made for Barney & Friends, the background from the show's 7th season was used.
  • As per above, the text is mostly unoriginal, as it is taken directly from the Barney Home Video bumper (except for an edit to mention HiT Entertainment).

November 2004

"Don't miss more funny
bits and clips after"
*SNOWED UNDER logo*
"Enjoy the show!"

FX/SFX: None.
