Background[]

This is a fan nickname given to probably the single most infamous set of theatre snipes ever made, created by the National Screen Service in 1968.

FX/SFX: The psychedelia in the background, and the text movement.

Music/Sounds: An abridged version of the 1968 go-go-like tune called "Funky Fanfare" by Keith Mansfield. Sometimes it's silent.

Availability: Various, ranging from uncommon ("Our Feature Presentation" and "Prevues of Coming Attractions") to extinct (several of the lesser-known Daters). Used at drive-in theaters by various companies in the 1960s and 1970s. Made surprise reappearances on certain films from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, like Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Machete Kills respectively, and their 2007 double feature Grindhouse (Planet Terror/Death Proof).

Editor's Note: This is a cult classic among moviegoers.

Music/Sounds: An orchestral fanfare. Sometimes, a funky synth jingle with whoosh sounds.

Availability: The two bumpers ("Our Feature Presentation" and "Prevues of Coming Attractions") were seen on tapes in Warner Home Video's A Night at the Movies series, such as 1960: Ocean's 11, 1957: The Prince and the Showgirl, and 1958: Auntie Mame. It also appeared at the end of some 1982 tapes, such as Rollover and Personal Best. The "Prevues of Coming Attractions" bumper was also shown only on U.S.A. Home Video, Family Home Entertainment, and Caballero Control Corporation from 1981 to 1985. The others are extinct.
